When did you decided that the JEE was something you want to go for?
I just followed my elder brother to go for science. and then in 12 i got to know that JEE is an exam for entrance in engineering. that time i decided to go for JEE.
How did you prepare for the exams?
I just went through all the notes given from Jaipur BANSAL and also used the notes from school for my studies in first attempt but that failed. Later, when i dropped, i still used notes from bansal but this time i studied a lot from books, solved many example, learned new trick to solve question…..
What was your motivation was it just brand IIT or something else?
Breaking of my brother dreams to get into IIT was the only point where i decided that i have to crack JEE at any cost, in order to fulfill my brothers dream.
What according to you are the best ingredient to crack the JEE?
Its Hardwork and Smartwork. You need to study, learn concept, new tricks to solve ques, and practise.
And what of these do you think you lacked/ possessed?
Possessed : capabiltiy of smartwork and hardwork, did a lot of practise. Lack continuous studying capability.
Was it all books, tutorials and formulas or you took out time for recreation?
Including all these i just kept making my question and solving them in mind. keeping introducing my own terms and condition to questions and kept solving them. I used to relate studies with event happening in daily life. Any specific problem you faced (psychological, moral, et al)?** and What No. i have decided that i have to crack JEE at any cost. i don’t have any option(take it in positive way). And, here i am in IIT KANPUR
What helped you in your moments of such depressions?
The breaking of my brother dream give me support to crack JEE plus the sacrifice made by my parents for me were enough for me to get out of depression and start working.
What was your expectation with yourself (in terms of selection/ rank)
I expected that i must score under 3000 rank in JEE. If you wouldn’t have cracked JEE, how would you have felt and would you. I never thought about that, because i thought that way that i have to clear JEE and there is no other option have considered dropping a year to ace the exam?
Any advice you would like to prescribe for the aspirants wrt preparation?*(please be specific with your response if you dropped/ had reservation/ self study/ high rank/ border-line rank/ too much of extra curicular activities before joining etc.
I was a mediocre in my school days, its just that study with complete concentration, complete all the work that you have to do before studying so that nothing bothers you while you are studying
Any advice you would like to impart to the aspirants as an IITian about life in IIT? *(your change in perspective for eg we all know after entering rank doesn’t matter much, high pressure, suicides, IIT is not the end etc)
Life in IIT is Good. You learn a lot new things. you become more competitve. Clearing IIT does not mean your career is set, its just first step towards your career, you have to work a lot to have a successful career. Rank or branch really does’nt matter in IIT. Its just that if you have to complete your homework and studies on time like you did in school. otherwise you have to face the consequences.
